Assorted Meat Soup Winter Melon Recipe

Ingredients:

winter melon (about 12-15 inches long)
pork fillet
chicken meat
cornstarch
scallop
dried black mushrooms
lotus seeds
shrimps
Chinese ham
parsley
salt
MSG
soup stock

 

Directions:

  1. Cut off one end of the winter melon, remove seeds, and carve design in rind. Blanch in boiling water.

  2. Dice pork and chicken meat, mix with 1 tsp cornstarch. Blanch in boiling water.

  3. Steam scallop thoroughly and tear into shreds.

  4. Soak dried black mushrooms in warm water, for 15 minutes, then dice.

  5. Boil lotus seeds in lots of water.

  6. Clean shrimp, scald it in boiling water.

  7. Chop Chinese ham.

  8. Pick parsley leaves.

Methods:

  1. Place diced pork, diced chicken meat, scallop, mushroom and lotus seeds in the winter melon, add soup stock until nearly full, season with 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp MSG. Steam 3 hours, then remove.

  2. Add shrimp before serving.

  3. Garnish with chopped ham, parsley on cut edge of winter melon.

Notes:

  1. Choose old winter melon.

  2. Marinade diced pork and chicken meat with cornstarch, then scald in boiling water, to make the meat tender.
