Steamed Tsailai Rice and Turnip Recipe
 Traditional Chinese New Year Snack

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

1 1/3 lb
2 2/3 lb
4 cups

Seasoning:
2 1/2 tsp
1 tsp
1 tsp
1 piece
 

Tsailai rice
turnip, shredded
water


salt
sugar
pepper
cellophane
 

Method:

  1. Soak rice for over night and drain. Puree with 3 cups of water.

  2. Cook turnip in 1 cup of water until tender.

  3. Mix rice puree, shredded turnip with seasoning. Put in wok and cook for 5 minutes until half cooked. Mix well.

  4. Pour mixture into a steaming basket lined with greased cellophane. Steam for 40 minutes over high heat. Ready to serve.
