Curry Powder Recipes

Hints For Beginners:

All spices must be fresh and purchased whole. Dry spices: coriander seeds, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, poppy seeds and chilies are generally roasted and then powdered or liquidized ( ground in a blender).

Curry powders are used for preparing meat, seafood, eggs, poultry and vegetables or lentils. They are not used in seasoning, pickles, or sprinkled on potato chips, fried nuts and sliced tomatoes. For these chili powder is used. The curry powders which contain fennel seeds can be used for any South East Asian or Sri Lanka curry. Fennel seed is never an ingredient of Indian, Pakistani, or Bangladesh curry powder. Always store curry powders in dry air tight containers.
