Spiced Shrimps ( Sambal Goreng Udang ) Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb / 450 g
2 tbsp
1
2 cloves
2
1 tsp

1/2 tsp
1 tsp

1 tsp
1/2 tsp
1/2 cup
2
 

shelled fresh or frozen shrimps
vegetable oil
medium onion, chopped finely
garlic, chopped finely
candlenuts, grated
coriander
pinch of cumin
turmeric
sambal ulek
silver of shrimp paste
salt
lemon grass
coconut milk from 1/2 coconut
salam leaves

Method:

  1. Heat oil and lightly sauté onion, garlic, grated candlenuts, coriander, cumin, turmeric, sambal ulek and shrimp paste.

  2. Add shrimps and lemon grass. Fry lightly.

  3. Add coconut milk and bring to a slow boil. Lower heat, add salam leaves and salt. Simmer uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve.
