Sesame Seed Dipping Sauce Recipe
Japanese Recipes

Ingredients:

100 g
2 tsp
1/2 cup
2 tbsp
3 tsp
1/2 cup
1 cup

white sesame seeds
light vegetable oil
Japanese soy sauce
mirin
caster sugar
instant dashi grains
warm water

Method:

  1. Roast the sesame seeds in a dry frying pan over low heat for 3-5 minutes, constantly shaking the pan until the seeds are golden brown. Crush the roasted seeds to a paste using a mortar and pestle or a clean coffee grinder. Add the vegetable oil only if necessary, to assist in forming a paste.

  2. Mix the paste with the soy sauce, mirin, sugar, dashi grains and water. Store the sauce, covered, in the refrigerator and use within 2 days of preparation.
