Yakitori Chicken Skewers Recipe

Ingredients of Yakitori Chicken:

900 g

Marinate:
70 ml
3 tbsp
3 tbsp
2 tbsp
2 tbsp
1 tbsp
1 tbsp

 

boneless chicken, cubed


Japanese soy sauce
sake
mirin
sugar
honey
finely pounded garlic
finely grated fresh ginger

Method:

  1. Mix sake and soy sauce together. Add mirin, sugar, grated ginger, garlic and honey. Mix well and bring to a low simmering boil for 10 - 15 minutes. Set aside to cool.

  2. Put chicken pieces into the marinate, turning them so that they are coated all over. Leave them to stand in the marinade for at least an hour or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.

  3. Skewer the marinated chicken cubes with the bamboo skewers and grill or roast in a preheated oven at 2000C for 10- 15 minutes. Turn the skewers over and roast for a further 6 - 7 minutes, brushing them occasionally with the marinade.

  4. When done, serve the Yakitori chicken skewers immediately with a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds.
