Steamed Rice with Vegetables

Ingredients

Chinese cabbage
boiled rice
small red pepper
small yellow pepper
leeks
chicken stock
parsley, or to taste
salt
freshly ground black pepper
soy sauce or a spicy sauce, to taste

Method:

Trim and wash the Chinese cabbage. If you are going
to use a bamboo steamer, cover the bottom with a few Chinese cabbage
leaves so that the rice does not fall through the bamboo mesh.

Cut the rest of the cabbage into strips 1-2 cm/1/2-1
in across and mix with the rice.

Trim and wash the pepper, then cut into thin strips
and mix with the rice. Trim the leeks, slit lengthways and wash
thoroughly. Cut into pieces about 5 cm/2 in in length, then cut
these into narrow strips and mix with the rice.

Season the rice with salt and pepper and place on
the bed of cabbage leaves or on a shallow, heat-resistant plate.

Bring the stock to the boil in the wok. Put the
steamer in the wok and cover with the lid. Steam the rice about 15
minutes.

Wash and dry the parsley. Chopped coarsely and
scatter over the cooked rice. Sprinkle soy sauce over the rice on
the table.
