Abuk-Abuk Nyonya Recipe
Nyonya Kuih

 


Ingredients:

Filling:
50 g

pearl sago, washed and soaked for 1/2 hour
grated coconut (white part only)
small cubed sweet potato (red variety)
pinch of salt

good gula melaka, grated & mixed well with 1
1/4 tbsp sugar
pandan leaf, cut into 1 1/2 cm
banana leaves, cut 20 cm x 20 cm (scalded)

Method:

  1. Mix ingredients well. Fold banana leaf into a cone shape. Round off the top with scissors. Staple the centre part to prevent it from opening.

  2. Fill one third of the cone with the pearl sago mixture. Make a deep dent Fill it with gula melaka mixture. Cover loosely with  pearl sago mixture. Put another 1 tsp of the sugar mixture. Cover again with pearl sago mixture. Top with pandan leaf.

  3. Fold neatly and put on streaming tray. Stream over high heat for 30 minutes.
