Stuffed Dates and Prunes Recipe

Ingredients:

Almond filling:
6 tbsp
1/4


 

dates
prunes
walnuts (tinned)


ground almond (tinned)
unbeated egg white
Icing sugar
a pinch of salt
red or green food coloring
 

 

Method:

  1. For Dates: Stones dates and fill cavity in each with a quarter of a walnut.

  2. For Prunes: Stones prunes and fill cavity in each with a piece of marzipan rolled to the correct shape, using sieved icing sugar to do so, if necessary. Top marzipan with a piece of walnut. Color the marzipan filling pink or green, if desired.

  3. To make almond filling: mix together the given ingredients, except the coloring, till you have a stiff paste. Add coloring and then cut into pieces to roll into the correct size to fill the prunes.

  4. To serve, put the dates and prunes in fluted paper cases, and serve with slices of Fruit Cake and coffee.
