Thai Salad Recipe
(Som Tum)

In Thailand papaya (pawpaw) is normally used in this salad together with vegetables such as tomatoes and lettuce. It is a good side dish to serve with Fried Pork Balls and Fried Chicken with Garlic.
 

Ingredients:

75 g/3 oz

25 g/1 oz
25 g/1 oz

Dressing:
1 tbsp
2 tsp

2 tbsp
 

cabbage, shredded
large carrot, peeled and shredded
peanuts, roasted and crushed
dried prawns, ground


nam pla
sugar
freshly ground black pepper
garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
lime or lemon juice
 

 

Method:

  1. Put all the salad ingredients in a bowl and stir well. Mix together the dressing ingredients, pour over the salad and toss well to coat. Serve cold.
