Ginger Beer Recipe

 


Ingredients

100 g/4 oz
900 ml/30 fl oz
900 ml/30 fl oz
150ml/1/4 pint
6
300 g/12 oz

coarsely grated fresh root ginger
boiling water
cold water
lemon juice
whole cloves
sugar

Method:

  1. Place root ginger in a blender or a food processor fitted with a metal blade and process until pulped. Put pulp in a bowl and add boiling water. Cover and let stand 2 hours. Strain through muslin into a large bowl, squeezing to extract all liquid; discard ginger. Add cold water, lemon juice and cloves to liquid in bowl. stir well and let stand 1 hour. strain liquid through muslin into a pitcher. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Refrigerate until well chilled. Makes 1 1/4 liters/3 pints.
